Moral Clarity vs. Moral Confusion

12/07/2021

Israel did two things this week to protect the lives of its citizens that received international attention. Tragically, it was condemned for both, one by the Biden administration, the other by the Europeans.

First, Israel shut down the offices of the Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC) in the Palestinian Authority. The organization’s title might sound innocent, but it’s not. It is the “agricultural arm” of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), the Marxist–Leninist revolutionary socialist organization founded in 1967 by the Soviet puppet, George Habash.

The PFLP is the second largest terror group member of the PLO after Fatah, which pioneered skyjacking and other spectacular acts of murder. (the assassination in Jerusalem of Minister R’chavam Zeevi, the slaughter of the Fogel family and the Har Nof synagogue attack, to name but a few of many hundreds they have killed)

The fact that it has been deemed a terrorist organization by the U.S., E.U., Canada, Australia, and Japan, hasn’t prevented the European countries from pouring tens of millions into its “agricultural arm.” This European money is used by the UAWC for the main focus of its work, encroaching on Area C in Judea and Samaria with the intent of choking Jewish communities from the lands that connect them to each other and to transportation routes. UAWC does not only illegally grab land, it is also very active in the campaign to delegitimize Israel around the world as a “systemically racist” and “apartheid state” through the efforts of sister organizations such as BDS. (1)

Belgium, France, Norway, Germany and Spain are all contributors to the terrorist subsidiary, but the Netherlands shamefully takes the lead, not only in sheer numbers.

Holland paid the salaries of Abdul Razeq Farraj and Samer Arbid, respectively the finance director and the accountant of the UAWC. It was they who murdered 17-year old Rina Shnerb, and seriously injured her father Eitan, and brother Dvir, on August 23, 2019. (2)

No mea culpa from the Dutch has been forthcoming. On the contrary, at every opportunity condemnation for Israel persists unabated, along with continued support for Palestinian efforts to circumvent and violate the very accords they have signed. [See, The Israeli-Palestinian Interim Agreement, Annex III – Protocol Concerning Civil Affairs, Article IV]

No less egregious, was the US condemnation of Israel’s demolition of the house belonging to Muntasir Shalabi, who shot and killed 19-year old yeshiva student Yehuda Guetta in April 2021. Benaya Peretz, also shot by Shalabi, remains in critical condition.

A proven deterrence against potential terrorists plotting attacks, the demolition of the home in the village of Turmus-Aya, adjacent to the historical site of ancient Shiloh and the Jewish communities in the Shiloh block, was carried out after the terrorist’s family filed a petition with the High Court of Justice, which rejected it.

The U.S. Embassy in Israel released the following statement:

“We believe it is critical for all parties to refrain from unilateral steps that exacerbate tensions and undercut efforts to advance a negotiated two-state solution. This certainly includes the punitive demolition of Palestinian homes. As we stated numerous times, the home of an entire family should not be demolished for the actions of one individual.”

The only thing that outdoes the sheer stupidity of the statement is its moral turpitude.

“Exacerbate tensions”? When Shalabi, a U.S. citizen, shot the teenagers in the head at point blank range, did that “exacerbate tensions?” Apparently not, because no U.S. condemnation was forthcoming. Nor did it stand in the way of the “two-state solution” because, contrary to the demolition of a house, the murder of Jews must not stand in the way of that fundamentalist religion called – the two-state solution.

As for “the home of an entire family should not be demolished for the actions of one individual” – yes it should, if it saves the lives. In fact, not just the home of the terrorist should be destroyed, but the village or neighborhood from whence he came, as recommended years ago by none other than liberal democrat Alan Dershowitz. Such punitive measures would make it clear that terrorism must be expunged from society, by neighbors, family, and friends, otherwise there will be a price to pay.

That is moral clarity.

Jews, even if they are “guilty” of living in Ju-dea, are not sacrificial lambs on the altar of “two-state solution” fanaticism.

PS. How one longs for the ambassadorship of David Friedman, when all lives, including those of Jewish “settlers” were of value to the United States of America.
