Vaccinations for employees from the Palestinian Authority
After the first and important stage of the vaccination campaign in Israel, we at Yesha Council, together with the heads of many local authorities, appealed to the Ministry of Health and the security authorities in the area to expedite the vaccination of the many PA residents working in industry and agriculture in the Israeli communities. We consider the economic activity that they represent to be of paramount importance for the advancement of the region economically and socially, as well as an activity that plays an important role in maintaining peace and stability. Last week, the Civil Administration, together with the IDF Central Command and the authorities, launched a special vaccination project for these tens of thousands of employees, carried out in special vaccination complexes set up at the western seam line, as well as in the Mishor Adumim, Ariel, Barkan and Efrat industrial areas.
This week, Yesha Council Chairman David Elhayani and Yesha Council CEO Yigal Dilmoni met with an Arab public figure running for Palestinian Authority presidency, Muhammad Sa'ad. Muhammad, who was previously imprisoned in Israel for terrorist activities, has been working in recent years to promote cooperation between Israelis who lives in Judea and Samaria and Arabs in the area. At the meeting, the participants called on the State of Israel to vaccinate also the Arabs of the area, residents of the Palestinian Authority, in the COVID-19 vaccinations and to offset the costs from the transfers of funds to the PA.
